Our Celebration!

Early afternoon Jen, Rick and kids arrived at Cultus and began to set up a wonderful backdrop for our 40th anniversary celebration.  They brought in fresh flowers, balloons, banners, cake, and set the stage for a fabulous day for us.

Photos left to right beginning with my high school graduation right up to this spring, fun to reminisce!
The day was hot and clear, and being the B.C. Day long weekend the traffic on the road was brutal, and parking at the lake was far and few between.  By mid-afternoon there was a group of about thirty of us, thanks everyone for the extra time and effort it took to come and celebrate with us.

The kids of course kept themselves busy in the water, and also gave us some entertainment which was fun to watch.

Fishing for minnows never gets old, here's the youngest one already at it.

Brothers.  :)

Friends  :)

Kids put on a special acrobatic show for us

After a leisurely afternoon spending time together lakeside we had bbq'd burgers and smokies; thanks Rick and Ken for cooking, great job!  Then it was cake and ice cream...

Followed by kind words in the form of a toast to us by our close friends Ken & Shirley, thank you!

We took the opportunity to have family photos taken to commemorate this special time spent together, we are so blessed.

Later in the evening there were still a few of us sitting around talking, the heat of the day was beginning to fade.

Then before we knew it everyone was gone except for Ted, Barry, Ruby and myself - what better time than almost midnight to have a rousing game of Pit?!

Ted and I are so thankful for it all; faith, family and friends!

Our 40th Anniversary

Sunday, August 2, 2015

On August 2, 1975 we made our promises to each other and God in the presence of our family and friends - today we celebrate 40 years of marriage.  Looking forward to a great time here at Cultus Lake with our kids, grandkids, family, and good friends!

Things We Like

I find the day goes by quickly, probably because there's lots of things we like to do here that we don't usually get to do when we're at home. We've been spending lots of time in the water just to keep cool.

Numerous water toys always close by

Some choose to float first before the big plunge:

(I'm not too sure what exciting stuff he hoped to see underwater)

Some like to jump in and not wait around...

The boys were heading out on an adventure, Gpa propelled!

Squirt gun fun

We've been playing board games too, Flea Circus, Pit and Quirkle - we haven't broken out the Monopoly yet, we don't seem to find time for a long game.

Evening fishing

Last night was movie night on Main Beach, it meant another late night but that's what we grandparents do when we want to pack all the fun into a day we can!
