Dining In - Part 1

Palm Villas - Our Place

Don't get me wrong, I do like to go out to Happy Hour and eat, drink and be merry at restaurants, beach bars, etc, but I really do like to kinda prepare food at home and enjoy having my peeps over.  Night before last we enjoyed a meal together just on the grass adjoining our patio, it was quite lovely.

Ken was our BBQ master

In spite of a rough start to the dinner because of a backed up garburator, a smashed glass full of salad dressing in the kitchen to clean up, and the smoke detector going off in the kitchen - it was a great night.  :)

Tonight we are going over to Gary and Gina's for dinner so I'm hoping it will be less eventful as far as the negative incidents go!

The Island Life

Living the Island Life can mean a lot of different things.  Sometimes it’s enjoying good food together with friends at a restaurant, and then even doing a little window shopping afterwards.

(I think I may have heard Gary say that he almost caught one of these before, but I’m not sure)

Sunset view from our patio

So after leaving the shop empty-handed (shocker!) we went back to our place for a nightcap, and another day comes to a close.

Week Two

On Tuesday we had an entire day of rain here, coming down in buckets for most of the day.  We discussed what options we had as far as things to do, being outside wasn't one of them.  As it turns out, shopping in Kona was a great idea for us girls, while the guys went to the Hilton to play some pool and then they drove up the highway to a place to have lunch.

Once we got the rainy day out of the way it was back to beautiful blue sky and sunshine, which called for an early morning drive to Waimea for breakfast at the Hawaiian Style Cafe.  I've never seen such a big breakfast before; two huge pancakes, sausage/bacon, hashbrowns, and eggs.

Then last night we were off to the Lava Lava Beach Club to listen to some music and watch the sunset, it was somewhat cloudy but still beautiful.

This afternoon Ted and I move over to the Palm Villas complex for the next five weeks, and Ken and Shirley's kids/grandkids fly in on Wednesday to stay here for their two week vacation.  Things are going to liven up around here quite a bit!

Pools

Relaxing and reading in a lounger, or just standing and talking while you’re enjoying the coolness of the water.....

.....it’s all good.

First Things First

Our First Morning

We were so happy to arrive here last night after a long day of waiting and travel to get here.  After a good sleep we woke up to one of my favourite things here - the birds morning song.  Ted and I quickly got dressed and went down to the Fairmont Orchid which is about a ten minute walk from the townhouse.

Then it was off to Gina and Gary's for a delicious breakfast and coffee before we had to head in to town for the big Costco, Target and Walmart shopping trip.
Perfect start to our holiday!

Kona bound

So we are on our way to Kona for seven weeks, but we’re delayed for three hours at the Bellingham airport.  Good thing there’s a Browns Social House to spend the time in!

Good times to come this week though, can’t wait....
