New York - US Open 🎾

It was a quick turnaround for us going to New York after being home only a few days from Disneyland, but we made it work.

We packed a lot into our week there; watching the tennis matches, sightseeing in the Big Apple, Central Park, zoo, One World Trade Centre for a dinner looking over the city, and much more!

Disneyland Family Adventures

It’s been awhile since we’ve made our way down to see Mickey and Friends so when Jen, Rick and family said they were going we decided to join them.  Barry and Alex joined the adventure too so it was a lot of fun.

Grandkids Staycation Here

 Jen and Rick's 22nd Anniversary!

We were happy to have Ruby, Bennett and Miles left with us for a couple of nights while Jen and Rick headed to Whistler to celebrate their 22nd anniversary.  It's kinda crazy that 'the kids' have been married that long, it really does seem hard to believe.  Seems not that long ago that Rick came to our house and asked us if we had any objection to him asking Jen to marry him.  We knew that he would be a great husband and so of course we gave him our blessing. So fast forward 23 years and now they're celebrating where it began and we were quite happy to look after the kids.

Miles loves to play Beyblades, he’s always up for a match

Also Lego, he makes some awesome warrior robots!

They all got in on creating shrinky dinks…
…and these two even had fun waiting for them to bake!

Our resident vintner checking this year’s crop.

What do you do when it’s hot?? Lemonade stand of course

Waiting for customers also creates some downtime to enjoy

Of course some faithful yearly customers showed up 😁

These are the summer memories we love and that will stay in all our hearts for years to come!  🥰

Cultus Lake

 Summer's Here!

Once the weather heats up it feels so good to find a spot to soak it in, especially with family and friends.  This year we rented a lakefront four bedroom cabin at Cultus for three nights and enjoyed every minute of it.

The fact that we caught a couple days of the first heat wave of the season was pretty perfect for floaties!

Jen, Rick and family popped in with lifelong family friends Robyn, Troy and their kids - we were so happy to see them after such a long time!!

"Cabin Crew"

We woke up to cooler temperatures and quite a breeze so we had to break out the warmer clothes, but at least we only had a few sprinkles of rain.  Colleen, Jay, Sue and Derrick headed home after two nights, then Rick dropped off Ruby, Bennett and Miles for an overnighter.

The cooler temperatures didn't stop these three from going in.

And towards the end of the day when things slow down it feels good to settle in, skip rocks, play cards, and just chill...

Hawaii - March 2022

 We're Back!

Two years ago we left the Big Island in a bit of a rush due to the pandemic, now we're back and it's sweeter than ever.  We were able to spend the full month of March here this year and it felt wonderful - and the weather was perfect.

We arrived at 5pm, just in time to get to Lava Lava Beach Club for the sunset.

Mauna Kea beach the next day, where else would we want to be?!

We celebrated Gary turning 70 this year, he's a rock star.   😁

Soon family and more friends joined us so there's always something to do - the grandkids had a great big area right off their patio to play soccer and frisbee.

Annual Tennis Tournament

1st Place - Ruby & Ted

2nd Place - Brianna & Barry

3rd Place - Ken and Jen

Thanks to our Ball Kids Miles & Blakely!

After a morning of tennis in the hot sun it was time to go back to the pool for a swim and barbeque burgers.

Even a card game!

Sunset Cruise from A-Bay

The catamaran that's in A-Bay has been something that I've been wanting to go on for a number of years, and it finally happened, although a bit different than I'd expected.

The sunset cocktail cruise began with Ted, Barry and I going on a motorboat up the coast along with a woman and her eight year old son, as well as the Captain and his assistant.  Only seven of us in total on a boat that holds forty-nine!  The young boy became seasick so we returned to A-Bay and boarded the catamaran moored there and we sat on it and watched the sunset while having drinks and a light dinner.  It wasn't the sail that I'd imagined but it was pretty nice!

Kona Brewing Company

Lunch at Kona Brewing was from the food trucks, their regular kitchen is closed on Sundays and Mondays because they don't have enough staff back to work yet, but it was still good.  :)

Our Last Night

We love the ambiance and the waves at The Four Seasons Hualalai Beach Tree restaurant so that's where we went for dinner on our last night, and it was delicious.  The chocolate covered ice cream bon-bons are the perfect ending.

Homeward Bound

We arrived back on April 1st, the first day of no covid testing required to enter Canada which made it easy for us.  Now it's back to our normal routines as we wait for Spring.
